Hi all,
For those following the blog RSS feed or who happen to visit the site before the official announcement, we’ve just soft-launched the next iteration of the bostonwp.org website. After consideration of much member feedback, we’ve scoped the website to focus on four major functions:
  • Blog – Provide meetup minutes, slides & videos, local WordPress event news, and food for thought
  • Forums – Enable members to ask questions (community support) and share knowledge & ideas
  • Job Board – Offer clients & freelancers a single place to post & browse ads for paid WordPress gigs
  • Meetup – Integrate with our existing Meetup.com presence and monthly meetup event calendar

We chose to accomplish this in a dashboard-like fashion. The home page now offers “at-a-glance” updates & one-click access to each of the above features.

A few notes:

  • It’s still shiny & new, and thus you may find something broken. Please let us know if you experience any issues via the popup feedback form at the bottom or via Twitter at @bostonwp. We welcome any suggestions and feature requests as well.
  • Posting to the forum and job board simply requires that you create an account at bostonwp.org. Don’t have an account yet? Register here. If you registered previously, you may continue to use your account.
  • When a job ad is submitted for review, a bostonwp.org admin will review it before it is published. (You can always edit and delete your job postings at your own will.)

  1. Wicked nice, very clean and shiny. Good job guys.

  2. Curious to who did the design and UI, it looks amazing. I’d honestly say the best I’ve seen integrated into Buddypress so far.

    1. Thanks! @dafuster did all the front-end stuff. It’s WordPress w/ bbPress integrated – no BuddyPress actually, since we felt the feature set was overkill for our needs.

Misread the BBpress down at the bottom there. I’m looking into getting our SuffolkJournal site redone, because we have a stock theme up.

Make use of the job board here… well done guys.

  3. Congratulations on the new site…looks great.

  4. Great going. Did not had a chance to attend any meetup but plan to do that pretty soon.
